As a queer, Black, multiracial, neurodivergent therapist, living with an autoimmune condition the intersection of my identities do not exist in a vacuum. They do not exist independently from one another. Each one informs the other, and vice versa — the same is true for you! I get how hard it can be to feel acknowledged, understood, and remembered for who you are, not for what others want you to be. I am HUMAN just like those that I serve. I believe in being transparent and bringing my whole self into my work with clients.
I do not see individuals as the problems that bring them to therapy; rather, I see them as whole people. I join with clients through humor, spontaneity, realness, and getting to know them holistically. One size fits all isn’t my jam - I’ll meet you where you are and tailor our work together to what feels right for you. While I do know some shit about some shit, ultimately you’re the expert of your own life. I am here to help you make meaning of your story and empower you to change it if you want to.
In my free time, I cuddle my fluffy smush-faced cat Nikko, watch reality TV shows on my couch, play my Nintendo switch, collect tattoos, and spend time with my friends at Barton Springs!
About Me
My Therapy Lens
Intersectional.
Intersectionality is essentially a framework for understanding how aspects of a person’s social and political identities combine to create unique modes of discrimination and privilege. Approaching healing through this lens, the therapist addresses these inequalities that often operate together and exacerbate one another. The goal of therapy is to repair harm caused by systems of power in the client’s life and empower them to live boldly in their truths.
Experiential.
It can be difficult to talk openly about the intense emotions attached to past experiences. Through attunement and reflection upon those emotions in the present moment, opportunities to move through them grows. Exploration in therapy is achieved by incorporating expressive arts, mindfulness, guided imagery, and somatic practices. By creating a new experience in session, clients begin to experience themselves and their problems differently.
Collaborative.
At the heart of collaboration lies human connection. Collaboration is cultivated through genuine interest, connection to the here and now, and aligning with a common goal. This means that in session, the process of change occurs through dialogue between the client and their therapist. As meaningful conversations occur and various perspectives are explored, understanding and acceptance of self increases.
